1. Could you tell us about your life before the full-scale invasion? Where did you live, and what was your job in Ukraine?
I am originally from the Chernihiv region, but in 2016, my family and I moved to Khmelnytskyi, where my elder sister lived with her family. I worked remotely for the company Volia, starting during the COVID period. After the invasion, I moved to Canada with my son, mother, and cat through a special program for Ukrainians. We lived there for nine months, but due to difficulties finding a job, we decided to return to Ukraine. I found a remote position with Nestlé even before returning, completing interviews while still was in Canada.
I applied for several similar positions, but the invitation to interview came only with your support. It felt like magic, and I’m deeply grateful to you for it!
2. What motivated you to move to Sweden, and how did this decision affect your career plans?
Last September, I met my fiancé. After a few months, we decided to live together, so my son and I moved to Sweden. The move was a new challenge, as I had to start my career over in a different country.
3. What kind of job were you looking for when you first arrived in Sweden, and what challenges did you face?
I was searching for remote work that didn’t require knowledge of Swedish. Based on my previous experience in Canada, I didn’t expect to find a job quickly. The main challenge was that, despite actively searching for months, I wasn’t seeing results.
4. How did you learn about the opportunity to work at Accenture, and what attracted you to the position of Business Analyst?
I found the job posting on the Professional Support Center’s website while searching for positions on Indeed. At that point, I had been job hunting for two months. The Business Analyst position caught my attention because I had prior experience working with the SAP system at Nestlé.
5. What do you think was key to your success in finding a job in Sweden?
The key was perseverance and dedicating a few hours daily to job searching. I created a system where I tracked every application and response in a spreadsheet. In total, I submitted around 200 applications, received two interview invitations, and one of them was from Accenture.
The biggest advantage was that the company offered training and paid me while I learned. Accenture provides opportunities for growth and access to diverse projects across various industries.
6. What advice would you give to people looking for a job in Sweden, especially those who have just moved and are trying to find their place in a new country?
Don’t give up. Search for vacancies across different platforms and register in company talent pools. A systematic approach is essential. Don’t be afraid to start from scratch, and consider programs for students or recent graduates—even if you’re from a different age group. The most important thing is a willingness to learn.
7. You found this job thanks to the support of our Professional Support Center. How did our services help you, and what role did they play in your employment?
I applied for several similar positions, but the invitation to interview came only with your support. It felt like magic, and I’m deeply grateful to you for it!
8. What are the main benefits and challenges you’ve experienced while working at Accenture as a Business Analyst, and how have you adapted to the company’s corporate culture?
I am still in the onboarding process. I started on August 26 and am currently undergoing intensive two-week training. The main advantage is that the company invests in my development and pays me for it. Accenture offers vast opportunities for growth and access to projects in different areas. The biggest challenge has been adapting to a new corporate environment, but I see it as an opportunity for personal and professional growth.
9. What advice would you give to those who want to work at Accenture?
If you’re interested in a position but lack experience, explore student or graduate programs. For example, I joined the Tech Talent Program, even though everyone in my group was a recent graduate. In a new country and industry, it’s logical to start fresh, even if you already have years of experience.
